Join Michael Jacobs and Two Legends for a Zoom Webinar

Dr. Steven Nesbit and Tom Myers

Complex athletic movement is a marriage between human biomechanics, technical proficiency and systematic musculoskeletal support. For sport-specific coaches, therapists, trainers and athletes, understanding the relationship between these distinct disciplines is a critical element of peak performance and injury avoidance. This exciting webinar brings together three of the preeminent experts in these elements—leading golf coach Michael Jacobs, ground-breaking biomechanist Dr. Steven Nesbit and Anatomy Trains founder and author Tom Myers will help participants master the whole-body approach to movement in sport.

Previous participants in this webinar have been able to transform their coaching, performance and treatment of athletes—and the utility extends from the apex of competitive sport to producing a more satisfying and pain-free experience for everyday players. Register now and be in the first group to be introduced to cutting edge concepts like Newtonian muscle and tendon models, myofascial continuity for balance and stability in sport movement and the practical application of biomechanics in coaching and training. Coaches, trainers, therapists and athletes will learn how to develop a performance blueprint that gives athletes the best chance to develop fully, avoid injury and get more enjoyment from what they do. No education about the connection between the body and sport movement is complete without it.

Topics:

-The influence of musculoskeletal modeling in biomehcanics

-Work and Power: Analysis of a Golf Swing 2 (2022)

-Generating and transmitting kinetic energy in sport movement

-Biomechanics in training and coaching

-"Key event" concepts in sport movement

-3D motion capture utility in sport training

Schedule:

Session 1: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT

Session 2: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT

PGA members who attend the seminar will receive: 4 PGA Required MSRs

About Thomas Myers:

Thomas Myers has practiced integrative manual therapy for more than 45 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings. He is the author of Anatomy Trains (2020, 4th ed.), co-author of Fascial Release for Structural Balance (2012, 2017), co-author of the Anatomy Trains in Motion Study Guide (2019), author of Body3, The Anatomist’s Corner, Structural Integration: Collected Articles and BodyReading: Visual Assessment and The Body Trains. He has written extensively for the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies and wide variety of other trade journals, and has produced more than 20 digital learning courses for Anatomy Trains and other collaborations. Tom lives and sails on the coast of Maine, and he and his team deliver professional development courses and certification in Structural Integration worldwide.

About Dr. Steven Nesbit:

Dr. Steven Nesbit is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College, where he has spent 30 years devoted to the study of human sports movement. He was the designer of the United States Golf Association’s original golf swing study that determined the contributions of the player and club to driving distance, and has served as the Chief Technology Officer of Jacobs 3D for the past seven years. His paper “Work and Power Analysis of the Golf Swing” is considered to be the foundational study of golf biomechanics, and he regularly consults as an expert technical contributor on cases as diverse as technological patent infringement between sporting goods manufacturers and research into the gait profile of dinosaurs. He is based in Pennsylvania and Florida.

About Michael Jacobs:

Michael Jacobs is a golf instructor, peak performance coach and sport movement researcher. In addition to his work with players ranging from beginner to the highest-level professional tours, he conceived and built with Dr. Steven Nesbit the Jacobs 3D sport movement analysis system—which measures and evaluates the forces and torques in athletes and the tools they use. He has been named one of the 50 Best Teachers in America by Golf Digest and one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Instructors, was a keynote speaker at the 2017 Professional Golf Association Teaching and Coaching Summit and has received multiple regional teaching and coaching honors from the PGA of America.
