Chen Wins Again & Can Make St. John's History
Peicheng Chen became just the third player in school history to win a third individual title in one season, joining Keegan Bradley and Andrew Svoboda. And he did it in style at the Van Harte Orange County Collegiate Classic in Coto de Caza, California last week. We've spent a lot of time on dynamic adjustments to how his sacrum and lumbar spine move in our recent work, and the result is clubhead speed comfortably in the mid-120s. Chen used that speed to dominate the par-5s, making four eagles over three rounds. He shot rounds of 70-68-72 to beat UC-Santa Barbara's Ryan Gay by two shots. With one more win, he'll tie Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley's record of four individual wins in a season. He's playing better than ever, so it'll be fun to watch him try to chase it down. Chen shot a 6-under, 210, through three rounds at the Coto de Caza Golf Club. The reigning BIG EAST Champion paced the field with a tournament-best four eagles and posted a 4.08 stroke average on par-5's. Chen was also named Player of the Week!
