Win! Harrington Three-Peats at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open
Rust? What rust?
Padraig Harrington was coming off a long layoff from being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame ("like going to a big wedding," he told me) and taking vacation time with his family. So going into this week, he hadn't played for awhile. But when Paddy came to Rock Hill for some work ahead of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, he was really focused. We spent a lot of time working on his left foot and leg—specifically the way he utilizes external forces—and his swing has really stabilized compared to last season.
Paddy shot rounds of 68-65-68 to win up in Endicott, New York for the third year in a row. He held off Mike Weir by a shot, and jumped 11 spots to No. 6 in the Charles Schwab standings for the season. Paddy's ball-striking stats for the week were terrific—fourth overall in driving distance and second in greens in regulation—and he picked up his second win of the season.
He's obviously in great form and in a great mindset for the run of tournaments coming up—the Senior U.S. Open, Scottish Open, Open Championship and Senior British Open.
