Peicheng Chen wins Public Links
In 1936, 14 years after the USGA created the U.S. Amateur Public Links, a group of golfers at Hendricks Field Golf Course in Belleville, New Jersey became the driving force behind the inception of the MGA Public Links Championship…..

Peicheng Chen fires a 62 at Bethpage
Springtime means tournament golf is in full swing, and it’s exciting to see our students out there putting their games to the test. Peicheng Chen set the competitive course record at Bethpage Yellow with a 62 (eight birdies, an eagle and a bogey) that won the qualifier for…..

Spring News & The Putting Experience
Winter has always been the time I organize and focus on my research projects and prepare for the upcoming spring teaching season. The past four months have been even busier than usual. I’m excited about the flow of new material you’ll see being published this year on the evolution of the swing motion and how the body interacts with the movement of the club, but the even bigger project has been the upgrades to the Jacobs 3D program. We have begun to roll out our new putting analysis—complete with a comprehensive putter fitting system. We are using the most technologically advanced putters on the market that allow for the heads to be customized specifically for each player’s aiming preference…..
Influential Golf Swing Positions
Based on a 12 year research project, we have adopted a database of the key positions during the swing. These dynamic events will help us group, analyze and compare the golfers we have studied. This 32 page pdf is mostly a visual experience. As we start to publish a statistical comparison of players, an understanding of why these positions were selected will be helpful…..

Movement Science Pioneers
Beyond the milder weather, September and October are also great because they mark the beginning of "research and development" season. I spend a lot of time preparing and presenting to groups of coaches, elite players and swing enthusiasts, and use my technical studio at Rock Hill to continue developing the Jacobs 3D sports movement analysis program. I have two events coming up that are great for anyone looking to expand their knowledge and experience as I will be joined by two pioneers in the world of human movement and performance…..
Golf Magazine Top 100
It is always gratifying to be recognized for the work you’re doing, and getting named to Golf Magazine’s prestigious Top 100 Teachers list is no exception. I can still remember the feeling when I made the list for the first time, in 2017—a sense of validation that all the time and effort that has gone into understanding the intricacies of the swing and how to demystify them for students has been time well spent…..
The Language of Improvement
A lot of the national attention I get comes from the kinetic analysis software I developed with Dr. Steven Nesbit at Lafayette College. There’s no doubt that collaborating on that project is one of the things I’m most proud of in my 20+ years as a teacher. But all of that research and study can either sit on the shelf in the form of a paper or book, or it can move out into the world and help real golfers…..
